With the dawning of 3D scanning and intra oral scanners, one of the key phrases flying around is ‘digital models’. Exactly in the same way that X-ray films have been replaced with digital X-rays, digital models are simply a replacement of plaster or stone models. But of course they are less limited than plaster models. A digital model, on its own, is a helpful tool and has the inherent characteristic of being able to save money on storage and materials, but its’ basic capabilities/usefulness stop there. Without post processing and smart software the limitation of a digital model comes through, in the same way as plaster models have limitations in their use.

Digital diagnostic models’ may take your digital models, from impression, plaster models or intraoral scans. Digital diagnostic models have undergone post processing to calibrate the model with all anatomical data they may be in use by clinician after words. Software functions and tools give many options for the clinician.

Real tooth height and width measurements, with semi automatic tooth segmentation and cone simulation are built into the system. The software hosts a selection of instant model analyses’ in seconds, including PAR scoring which can be completed in minutes at the click of a mouse.

The software provides the orthodontist with the tools and capabilities to prescribe precise bracket positioning, and design individually customised indirect bonding jigs for each patient in just minutes. The IPA system works with existing labial and lingual straight wire bracket systems, so there is no new bracket system to learn to work with. The choice of system and all of the control remains in the hands of the orthodontist. Welcome to CAD/CAM orthodontics. The orthodontist has full control of the timings and workflows. Bonding procedure chair time is halved, based on users’ experience. You may complete with model set-up options, occlusion clean check if have fun to work with.

Process/Timings

The service provided utilising DDP-Ortho medically certified software solutions is based on the experience of providing more than 50,000 digital diagnostic models. From receiving impression (alginate or PVS) or plaster model or intraoral scan file, to the digital diagnostic model being uploaded onto the orthodontists’ secure online account, takes up to 2 working days and from receiving the digital file with the bracket placements from the orthodontist to delivering the physical jig, with brackets, is 1 week or less. This will be based on local laboratories service options.
